Coding in the Newly Revised Science and Technology Curriculum, Grades 1 to 8
Join Lisa Anne and Steve as they share an overview and practical ideas related to the Science and Technology curriculum for grades 4-6. This webinar will focus on coding within the new Strand A: STEM Skills and Connections, and will introduce cross-strand examples for the junior grades, with connections to the overall and specific expectations.
Lisa Anne loves to share her passion for coding with students and educators in school districts and at educational conferences across North America. She is a PhD Candidate with a focus on coding in teacher education at Western University, where she also teaches Computational Modelling in Mathematics and Science Education for Intermediate/Senior preservice teachers in the Bachelor of Education program. Lisa Anne has received several teaching and research awards and has published in academic journals, book chapters and blogs. She has many years of experience teaching high school Computer Science, Mathematics, Science and Cooperative Education in the Thames Valley District School Board in London, Ontario.
Since 2003, Steven has been a teacher, resource developer, e-learning course writer, Bachelor of Education instructor, and educational consultant. He has his PhD in Curriculum Studies, with a focus on technology and computer science in K-12 Education. Steven has worked with school boards in Canada and the US supporting computer science education in the K-12 grades and was awarded the 2017 Computer Science Teachers Association Award for Teaching Excellence in Computer Science and the 2019 Canadian Research Centre on Inclusive Education Research Award. From 2020 to 2023, Steven was an Education Officer with Ontario's Ministry of Education in the area of STEM curriculum, and is currently the Coordinator of Secondary Program at the London District Catholic School Board.
